SERVICES OFFERED

Ohio Concrete Sawing and Drilling is Ohio’s premier concrete sawing and drilling contractor. Ohio Concrete has provided services to industry and contractors since 1981. During the height of the construction season, the four offices located in Ohio will complete nearly 2,000 jobs each month. Ohio Concrete has been successful because they have always focused on meeting the needs of their customers.

Ohio Concrete has also made consistent efforts to stay ahead of their industry by using the latest technology available in the sawing and drilling industry. Recent technological improvements include:

  • Availability of Ground Penetrating Radar to locate conduit, water and sewer lines and reinforcing. This amazing technology is extremely accurate and is available on short notice to any customer requesting the service or expressing any concern about the location of hidden utilities.
  • Ohio Concrete has the ability to saw, remove and even excavate the sub grade using 100% electric tools. The use of electric tools eliminates carbon monoxide fumes, reduces noise associated with gas and diesel engines. It is safer for our own employees and much less disruptive to ongoing operations where we are working.
  • Ohio Concrete has constructed their own horizontal curb saws, allowing them to quickly remove the top portion of concrete curbs for new drive approaches. In the past this work was much more labor intensive. We can now cut new residential approaches in an hour.
  • Whether your job requires concrete removal, core drilling in a manhole where we provide the boot or electric excavation we can provide the services you need on short notice

Asphalt Sawing : Ohio Concrete provides sawing services for asphalt contractors throughout Ohio. We will saw the perimeter of areas you are replacing to provide a clean edge to improve the appearance of your repair.

Egress Windows: Ohio Concrete is frequently asked to saw openings in basements for installation of new windows. National building codes require the installation of egress windows when converting basement areas to living areas. Egress windows provide for an alternative exit from the basement in the event of a fire blocking the basement stairs. This work is normally done with a wall saw and mini excavator.

Floor Grinding ( QuickTime: High Low Window Media Player: High Low) :
Learn The Basics Of Floor Grinding Here
Diamond tools are an ideal way to smooth out bumps and trip hazards in concrete floors. It is not unusual for adjacent floor slabs to have slightly different elevations. Grinding concrete with diamonds is the least expensive way to eliminate these problem areas.

Concrete Grouting: Injecting cement based grouts is the best method of eliminating small voids below concrete slabs. Injection of grout frequently will minimize the risk of a concrete slab cracking if the ground beneath the slab settles and fails to support the concrete. When the new Jeep plant developed problems with an area in the plant Ohio Concrete injected grout below the concrete through hundreds of holes to stabilize the concrete.

Ohio Concrete purchases bumper posts by the hundreds for installations throughout Ohio. We frequently will be called on to install a few posts because we have the ability to core drill in concrete. Several years ago we installed nearly 1,000 bumper post in the Meijer’s warehouse in Flat Rock, Michigan. We can normally install posts on a couple of days notice since we keep the most common sizes in our inventory.

The EPA requires water tight connections for all sewers containing waste water. Ohio Concrete has core drilled in manholes since they began in 1981. For most of this time we have also provided the rubber boots that insure a water tight connection between the concrete manhole and the new sewer pipe. If we know what size pipe you are installing, our operator will bring the correct boot to your job for you to install after the hole is cored.

Concrete Removal OhioAlong with concrete sawing, Ohio Concrete began removing concrete years ago. We recently removed over 1.2 million pounds of concrete from the University of Michigan Medical Center. This was done using entirely electric tools. The use of electric tools eliminated carbon monoxide fumes and minimized the Concrete Removal Herenoise. Sawing also eliminated any vibration normally associated with concrete removal. This was important because the Medical Center is a huge complex with nearly 5 million square feet of building, 17,000 employees and 1.5 million people a year using the facility. It was important to complete this work without disturbing ongoing operations.

Ground Penetrating Radar ( QuickTime: High Low Window Media Player: High Low):
This is a brand new technology. Developed for geophysics, it is used by the military to locate land mines. Archeologists use this to find voids in pyramids when they are looking for tombs. This technology will prove to be very helpful to professionals in the construction industry.
Ground Penetrating Radar enables the technician to precisely locate rebar, piping, conduit and sewers to a depth of ten feet. Ground Penetrating Radar is a separate company run by Matt Aston. Matt can be reached at 419-843-9804 or at matt.aston@gp-radar.com. If you have any further questions or need additional information please visit our website at www.gp-radar.com

Ohio Concrete’s Operators are experts at Concrete Demolition

Over the years, our customers have been requesting more full service concrete demolition. Although a large percentage of our concrete demolition customers ask us only to cut, we do provide concrete removal as an additional service for anyone.

We have a large number of tools that allow us to effectively remove, handle, and dispose of concrete walls, patios and floors. Our concrete demolition tools include a fleet of small electric forklifts that allow us to safely remove large cut pieces of concrete from enclosed structures where fumes and tight areas are issues.

If full disposal after a concrete demolition job is required, we will coordinate dumpster deliveries and disposal. We also have dump trailers where full size dumpsters may not be necessary. Portions of the removed concrete are recycled based on a number of factors directly related to the quality of concrete, steel embedded, and the size of pieces. We have been asked to handle crane operations, high security locations, and sensitive environmental concerns. If you have a problem, let us help.

Concrete slurry has become a large nuisance to contractors during the demolition phase. Plumbers and electricians do not like it in their cut trenches. Flooring contractors do not like to clean it up in order to lay flooring. We are equipped to work with you to remove slurry at a reasonable price and dispose of the concrete slurry properly. We can provide man power to operate our barrel vacuums, or we can provide barrel vacuums for your people to use while we cut. Our vacuum truck is capable of handling hundreds of gallons. Disposal can be on your site if your site allows or the slurry can be removed from your site properly. The fees for this are relatively small compared to the large problem they create.

Please give us a call to discuss your concrete demolition project 419-841-5656.

Wire Saw

Concrete Wine Saw Case Study

Wire Sawing able to cut Steel, Concrete, Brick, Granite or Stone in hard to reach areas.

Diamond wire sawing was created by great advances in diamond application technology. The steel braided wire is impregnated with small cutting diamonds similar to blades and bits used for cutting concrete. The wire is oriented in a looped fashion on the cutting plane. A hydraulic driven wheel then forces the wire to pull through the surface to be cut. The use of multiple pulleys allows the wire to cut any thickness at any angle assuming there is access. Steel, concrete, brick, granite and stone are many of the materials that the wire can be constructed for. The ideal applications include structures that are too thick or too
large for conventional cutting means, tight areas, and submerged locations. Some examples are foundation concrete walls thicker than 30” requiring openings, piers submerged in lakes or large barrel chillers cut down for removal.

It has been said that the application of this process is only limited by ones imagination. The wire can be sized for any Steel, Concrete, Brick, Granite or Stone project. Planning, engineering, and creativity allow multiple cuts to happen simultaneously which can reduce cutting time. Water is a necessary part of the process that keeps the cutting location
cooled and any potential dust minimized. Rebar or other reinforcing is not an issue for the wire to cut although it increases the cutting time minimally.

Please give us a call at 419-841-5656 with any questions you have on wire cutting steel, wire cutting concrete, wire cutting brick, wire cutting granite or wire cutting stone.

Trench drain cover replacement

Trench Drain Cover Replacement OhioThe original 4" wide trench drain was plastic with a plastic cover.  The drain was not meant to have fork truck traffic driven over it.  After time it caved in causing a trip hazard.  We were called in to horizontal saw cut inside the drain into the concrete sides of the drain on both sides making it 6" wide and vertical cut to a 1" depth. The new cast iron drain cover fit flush to the floor and rested on the new horizontal concrete cut surface.
